Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
We work from the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework which sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five years old. All schools and Ofsted registered early years providers must follow the EYFS.
We help our children take their first steps on their learning journey, encouraging them to become resilient, confident, capable and independent, knowing that they are constantly learning. Every child is unique. Our skilled practitioners respond to their individual interests and needs and help them to build their learning over time, understanding that each child learns and develops at their own rate.
It is our intention that children experience the seven areas of learning through a balance of child led and adult led play based learning. This is through the children’s interests, outings in the local area, our Nature Steps outdoor learning, topics, themes and continuous provision activities. Learning is carefully planned by the staff to support communication and language development; personal, social and emotional development; and physical development as well as literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.
