Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five. All schools and Ofsted registered Early Years providers must follow the EYFS. The EYFS supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and child care experiences to all children (www.foundationyears.org.uk).

Your child’s key person will carryout regular observations of your child at play and assess their development using the EYFS Early Years outcomes. These are used to plan next step learning opportunities to ensure your child is developing within all learning areas. At the end of each term all of this data is compiled to create a summative report which is then shared with you.
The underlining principle is learning through play and our skilled practitioners use their knowledge of your child’s interest and abilities to create exciting invitations to play where they can then support and extend individual learning.

EYFS planning is displayed in every classroom and all of our staff attend regular EYFS training.

Outstanding settings make for a stronger and more positive difference to children’s learning and development.
