Bumblebee Class Update – Preschool Adventures!
The Bumblebee Class at First Steps Cornwall has been buzzing with excitement as the children dive into a world of numbers, reflection, healthcare, new additions to the role play area and storytelling. This month, our preschoolers have been busy exploring the concept of numbers in fun and interactive ways, our little learners are thriving!
Learning Numbers
In the Bumblebee Class, numbers have taken centre stage this month! Through colourful counting games, interactive activities, and cheerful number songs, the children are building early math skills in a fun and engaging way. From matching numbers to quantities to counting toy bumblebees, the preschoolers are exploring the world of numbers with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Reflecting and Growing
Self-reflection has been a key focus for our little learners. During circle time and creative art sessions, the children have explored their emotions, interests, and friendships. A particularly engaging activity involved using mirrors and foil to observe their reflections. The children delighted in seeing their faces and features, noticing how unique they are. With foil as a creative tool, they experimented with drawing and crafting their reflections, encouraging them to think about what makes them special. These moments nurture emotional intelligence and help build confidence.
The Gingerbread Man Adventures
The timeless tale of The Gingerbread Man has brought storytelling to life in Bumblebee Class! The children have engaged in imaginative role-play, sequencing story events, and even making their own gingerbread characters. A highlight was recreating the story’s chase scene around the room, combining fun with physical activity and teamwork.
A Magical Role-Play Area
Our revamped role-play area has been a hit with the children this month! Featuring a grandfather clock and a beautifully restored dresser, this cozy corner sparks imagination and creative play. The children have been pretending to host tea parties, care for their “babies,” and even act out scenes from traditional fairy tales. The addition of these vintage-inspired pieces encourages storytelling, social interaction, and a sense of wonder.
Story Boxes – Independent Reading
To foster a love for books, the children have been enjoying individual storytime using our cozy story boxes. Sitting comfortably in upcycled crates lined with cushions, each child has the opportunity to explore a storybook at their own pace. This setup creates a calm and inviting space for reading, helping the children build independence, imagination, and a connection to the world of stories.
Exciting Times Ahead
The Bumblebee Class continues to thrive, with each day bringing new opportunities for discovery, creativity, and growth. We’re proud of all they’ve achieved and look forward to seeing where their learning adventures take them next!
