First Steps Cornwall Joins the Pudsey Bear Fundraising Fun : Supporting Children in Need
What is Children in Need?
Children in Need is a well-known charity that has been transforming the lives of disadvantaged children across the United Kingdom. With a mission to ensure every child has the chance to thrive, the charity works tirelessly to provide essential support for young people facing challenges such as poverty, disability, or illness.
A Legacy of Giving
Established in 1980, Children in Need has raised billions of pounds to support life-changing projects. Its annual televised appeal, featuring celebrities and heartwarming stories, has become a staple of British culture. This event alone has inspired communities to unite and contribute generously to the cause.
At First Steps Cornwall, the spirit of giving was alive and well as each classroom embraced the UK Children in Need theme with enthusiasm and creativity. The children and staff came together to raise money through a variety of activities, all centred around the beloved mascot, Pudsey Bear.
The Caterpillar Room hosted a colourful Pudsey-themed sensory tray session, where little ones explored different coloured balls and shedded paper and enjoyed themed nursery rhymes.
In the Ladybird Room, children participated in a sponsored “Pudsey cutting and sticking,” showing off their fine motor skills. The room was filled with laughter and energy as the toddlers enjoyed the music, and nursery rhymes.
The Bumblebees & Dragonflies Rooms took a more hands-on approach, organising fun activities inspired by the children.
Nature Steps brought their outdoor expertise to the Children in Need effort by creating a stunning Pudsey Bear face out of natural materials found in the forest. The children worked together to gather leaves, twigs, sticks, and stones during their forest exploration.
Using the natural objects, they carefully assembled a giant Pudsey Bear face on the forest table, complete with a leafy yellow face and a colourful polka-dot patch made from stones and different coloured leaves. This hands-on activity combined creativity with teamwork and provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with nature while contributing to a meaningful cause.
